Paula has long wanted to help others on a personal level.  Paula studied Human Development and Family Studies, with a concentration in Family and Consumer Sciences Education, at Texas Tech University.  While there, she served as a court-appointed special advocate for a child in foster care.  The more she studied, the more she realized that pressured families don’t always know how to navigate a complex, sometimes frustrating legal system.  She realized that adverse legal circumstances can have serious, long-lasting financial ramifications on families and that the resulting distress can cause a downward spiral of related concerns, including mental and physical health issues.

So Paula selected a unique program at Texas Tech where over the course of three years she earned both her law degree and a Masters in Science in Personal Financial Planning. Her goal?  To use her analytical abilities to help others move forward through often very difficult and unfortunate financial situations.

Paula graduated valedictorian of the Class of 2006 at Texas Tech University School of Law. That winter, her detailed examination of Texas public school funding was published in the Texas Tech Law Review.

From 2006 to 2007, Paula worked as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Carolyn Dineen King, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Later, Paula put in long hours as an attorney practicing business litigation at a national law firm. Throughout these years, her professional goal never wavered: she continually sought to relieve the legal worries facing her clients.

Over the past six years Paula has lived with her family on 3 different continents as they moved to different assignments with her military husband and their young daughter.  Paula’s experiences have led her to be adaptable, develop extremely strong problem solving skills, and work with all types of people in varied situations at a moment’s notice.  Those experiences further solidified her objective to enable others in navigating the legal process.

In 2014, Paula joined Christy’s law firm, which offered her the opportunity to combine her legal skills with her background in personal financial planning.  Paula’s experience in research and analysis, along with her focus on family finances, complements the firm’s emphasis on all things tax-related, including the administration of personal assets, business formation, estate planning, and probate matters.  Paula understands not just how tax-related issues complicate personal and business affairs, but also how they can affect the client’s overall wellbeing.  Paula has committed herself to easing the client’s stress through quick, responsive, and detailed communications. She never forgets that clients deserve quality legal services that protect their integrity and welfare.  And she never forgets that she must render those services while observing the highest of ethical standards.

Paula enjoys reading and traveling with her husband and daughter.  She particularly enjoyed visiting Germany’s Christmas markets, the Western Ghats of India, and Big Sur, California.  Catch up with her by calling her at 817-504-5271.  She looks forward to assisting you with your tax-related needs.
